BİNGÖL – Doğan News Agency
One of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s chief presidential advisers has said the best ideas come to her mind when she is washing dishes.
Speaking at the National Women Entrepreneurship Congress in the eastern province of Bingöl, Özlem Zengin said the “best ideas always come to mind at the hardest times.”
“This particularly applies to women’s lives. Honestly, my best ideas come to me when I’m washing the dishes,” Zengin said at the event held in Bingöl University on Sept. 26.
“The world is looking for shining and original ideas. I think women are very close to finding those original ideas … We need projects that will put forward women’s ideas,” she added.
The event organized by Bingöl Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a number of high-level figures, including Zengin, Customs and Trade Minister Bülent Tüfenkci, Family and Social Policies Minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) head Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Chair Cevdet Yılmaz, Bingöl deputy Enver Fehmioğlu, and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Istanbul lawmaker Arzu Erdem, as well as women entrepreneurs and non-governmental organizations from across Turkey.
Making the opening speech, Hisarcıklıoğlu said “women and men are like the wings of a bird.”
“If one is lacking, than it’s impossible for the bird to fly. Bingöl stands out because it acts with that vision,” Hisarcıklıoğlu said.
Also speaking at the congress was Erdem, who said women’s participation in social and economic life was crucial to ensure.
“If only half of society is supported, then that society is doomed to remain lacking. I want to stress that women’s participation [in the workforce] is very important,” she said.
“We only got over the process that started with the thwarted [July 15, 2016] military coup attempt by coming together as men, women and children. Our country is strong and there are no obstacles in front of our country,” Erdem added.
In his speech, Yılmaz also said high-quality development is only possible with men and women together.
