Huge operation against ‘theft gang’ in Istanbul

Some 26 people including two women were detained early today in simultaneous police raids on 90 addresses as part of operations against an alleged theft gang in Istanbul.

Some 500 police officers from the Istanbul Police Department’s Public Security Branch raided the houses and offices in the Karabayır and Tuna neighborhoods in Istanbul’s Esenler district. The operation was also supported by police choppers.

The suspects are accused of having been involved in numerous theft cases.
