Historic chapel opened to worship in Didim

AYDIN - Doğan News Agency
Historic chapel opened to worship in Didim A 300-year-old chapel located near the famous Apollon Temple in the western province of Aydın’s Didim district has been opened to worship.

The chapel was closed for restoration by the municipality three years ago.

Visitors, mostly Brits, will be offered arts and culture events as well in the chapel, announced officials.

A British resident in Didim, 67-year-old Tony Scott, said they were happy to see the positive result of their efforts after foreigners living in the district delivered demands to officials for the construction of a church in the region.

After they failed to fund the purchase of land, they applied to use the chapel.

The municipality will permit the use of the chapel on Sundays for two hours each week.
