HDP co-chair makes assets public once again
REUTERS photoPeoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş has filed his declaration of property to parliament, around one year after making his asset holdings public.
The HDP announced Demirtaş’s initiative in a written statement released on July 6. According to the statement, Demirtaş has a house in his hometown Diyarbakır (worth 260,000 Turkish Liras) and two automobiles - a Skoda (worth 55,000 liras) and an Audi (worth 135,000 liras).
In the run-up to presidential elections in August 2014, Demirtaş, one of the two candidates competing with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, had filed his declaration of property to the Supreme Election Board (YSK).
Accordingly, Demirtaş now owns fewer properties than he held last year. The 2014 declaration showed he had a house in his hometown Diyarbakır, an office which he used as his own law office in Diyarbakır (worth 100,000 liras), two automobiles – both Audis – he used during his party-related work, as well as a Skoda used by his spouse, Başak Demirtaş.
