Sarigül: CHP leadership conspiracy collapses:
ANK - Turkish Daily News
Şişli Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül said on Thursday that the Council of State's decision to terminate the Interior Ministry's investigation against him and five other municipality officials proves that the conspiracy the Republican People's Party (CHP) leadership tried to conjure up has collapsed.
In a written statement Sarıgül said the Interior Ministry's investigation against him was just a routine procedure but that the party leadership had utilized it to campaign against him. He said the conclusion of the matter had proven that accusations directed against him were baseless.
He noted that he would testify at the CHP Supreme Disciplinary Board today to defend himself against these charges, adding that it was now CHP leader Deniz Baykal and his associates' turn to defend themselves for their conduct.
Erdoğan ends hospital photocopy queues:
ANK - Turkish Daily News
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a directive on Thursday ordering hospitals and pharmacies to refrain from demanding photocopies of documents from patients.
In the directive published in Thursday's Official Gazette, Erdoğan noted that the aim was to resolve the problems associated with the transfer of Social Security Authority (SSK) hospitals to the Health Ministry.
With photocopy queues eliminated, patients can receive treatment without spending hours waiting, the directive noted.
SSK members being forced to wait hours in line to photocopy their documents was criticized as the most obvious result of the SSK hospital transfer.
