CHP's Anadol: PM should answer Mumcu's claims
Republican People's Party (CHP) parliamentary group leader Kemal Anadol on Monday called on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to respond to claims made by Motherland Party (ANAP) leader Erkan Mumcu about the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) paying CHP deputies to join the AKP.
Speaking at a parliamentary press conference, he made reference to AKP deputy leader Dengir Mir Mehmet Fırat's statement, “We paid the same amount as we did when Mumcu joined the AKP,” adding that such allegations damage Turkish democracy.
Anadol noted CHP leader Deniz Baykal's past comments on deputy transfers being questionable, and said: “Now, a former AKP member, Erkan Mumcu, is asking questions about this matter. I think he shouldn't wait for Erdoğan to speak up.”
Dinçer's plagiarism:
Anadol also said Prime Ministry Undersecretary Ömer Dinçer was proven to have plagiarized his academic work as a result of decisions taken by Sivas Republic University and Marmara University. “I'm wondering how the prime minister will act in response to this news,” he said.
He said the statute of limitations had prevented Dinçer's prosecution but that it did not hide the fact that he had committed a crime.
