Greeks that watch the smash Turkish TV hit “Muhteşem Yüzyıl” (The Magnificent Century) are "surrendering” to the Turks, Thessaloniki Metropolitan Bishop Anthimos has told his followers, according to daily Hürriyet.
"No one should watch ‘Muhteşem Yüzyıl,’" the metropolitan said. "By watching Turkish series we should tell them that we have surrendered."
Anthimos said the series aimed at breaking "the western Thrace union."
Anthimos has slammed Turkish series before, warning Greeks not to watch them on TV.
Turkish shows are among the most popular TV programs in Greece, with series "Sıla" and "Muhteşem Yüzyıl" gaining some of the highest ratings.

Bishop Anthimos and DutchTurk Janicar and their likes should be pointed out and exposed for their ethnic bigotry and hatred. I invite Turkish friends to condemn DurchTurk as Greeks have condemned the priest. Their poison derives from the same cess pool!

Anthimos is creating problems for many years now. I think he was member of an old far right group consisted of some priests, army colonels, policemen and politicians, that was against leftists, liberals e.t.c. in Greece and also against all neighboor countries.

I am happy to see Greek comments protesting the cleric. Instead of world hate, there should be world peace. Greeks and Turks must be friends, we are brothers flying different flags.

He should be arrested and charged for promoting ethnic hatred. Greeks should place a legal barrier between church and state. Regards

At least this bishop is telling what he thinks, unlike the bishop of Istanbul who is playing a Saint in Turkey and hyena outside Turkey. Greek bishops should only talk about religious issues, we have seen on Cyprus what happened after the Greek bishops mend in politics issues. They should focus on their own branch. The Turkish president of religious affairs imam Mehmet Gormez, will never be tolerated to talk about things which is not his branch.

What a toxic cocktail from Thessaloniki Metropolitan Bishop Anthimos. Religion and nationalism dominating ingredients with a pinch of hate and stupidity. Religous extremists are equally dangerous. Does not mattter whether they are Christian, Jewish or Islamic. May secular Turkish Republic grow ever stronger.
