Turkey, Turkish Cyprus is holding a search and rescue exercise on the land and sea.

Turkey, Turkish Cyprus is holding a search and rescue exercise on the land and sea.

Greek Cyprus has conveyed its concerns to the United Nations over a search and rescue exercise held jointly by Turkey and Turkish Cyprus.

A search and rescue exercise named “Martyr Lt. Caner Gönyeli-2012” has started in northern Cyprus and will be completed today, Anatolia news agency has reported.

Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou Marcoullis said on June 12 that they had made a complaint to the U.N. over the “illegal” search and rescue exercise carried out in northern Cyprus, daily Famagusta reported. “Last week we made representations to the U.N. and all diplomatic missions accredited to the Republic of Cyprus, but also to certain countries that participated in last year’s exercise,” Marcoullis said.

Observers from Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the United Nations forces on the island were all present at the exercise.

Hold all the "search and rescue" exercises you want; spend even more wasted money on futile attempts to prop up Turkey's illegal statelet, built on stolen property, occupied by by imported Anatolian peasants...it won't change the fact that Turkey is an occupier, and it will never be able to persuade, cajole, warn or threaten the rest of the world into accepting that its fait accompli is legitimate. Enjoy your continued isolation...you've earned it.

well when the puppet greek occupied zone need help we can stand by a watch as their homes burn down, when their ships sick and their crew is drowning we can turn round and drink tea as we dont wish to hurt the puppet goverments feelings by giving illegal help! The greek cypriots have again shown how sick they are and how evil they are. They forget when we help them with power or fire fighting equipment.

TRNC exists therefore it is. Any questions? Legal basis? Same one that Greeks have used to steal Cyprus name and flag and joined organizations that both Greece and Turkey are not members of. Yea, that treaty that Greeks have shelved, therefore making Greek Cyprus and illegal entity...

@ Red Tail. What's happened to Mr Kypros are you trying to answer on his behalf while he trolls through the local library for the correct book on Cyprus history. Look mate he made a ridiculous statement and he should either retract his inaccurate comment or apologize .We shall see if Mr Kypros is man enough to do the right thing in his next comment or has he gone AWOL.

I note that Turkey provided Arial fire fighting aircraft to combat Greece's forest fires a couple of years back although this did not make their press! Kypros- under that Treaty allows you dark siders to even consider allowing Israeli troops onto the island! Turkey are a Guarantor Power; of COURSE they can station troops there and hey, guess what...They are NOT going anywhere and there is nothing mere Greeks can do to compel their departure this side of the recovery of YOUR or Greece's economy!
