Unemployed Greek TV actress Nikoleta Karra recently slammed Greek channels for airing Turkish shows instead of Greek Cypriot ones, daily Hürriyet reported.
The Turkish TV series “Sıla” particularly drew Karra’s ire, sending her to Twitter to complain.
"Sıla in the morning, Sıla in the afternoon. Sıla 24 hours a day. Enough! We've made so many shows in Greek Cyprus. Why won't the Greek channels air Greek Cypriot shows?" the actress tweeted.
Greek actors have been working for Greek Cypriot channels for some time now due to the difficult financial situation in Greece.
Turkish shows are among the most popular TV programs in Greece.

Shame - I have two comments :- 1. Turkish movies are far more superior - the story line is always excellent, the acting is of a high standard, with just the right amount of glamour and true to the realities we all know. 2. this lady obviously has some acting skills and she should really think about where she can best apply her actings skills - viewers in many parts of the world enjoy Turkish movies. You 're missing the point here. Of course Greeks like Turkish soaps, music and vice versa. Lot;s of same thing in our culture. What the UNEMPLOYED actress is trying to say is that due to the crises the Greek TV channels prefer to buy cheap Turkish soaps instead of more expencive GCs or produce a Greek one. That's the problem.

I don't find English people moaning about why there are american programmes on British TV channels, because the two nations have similar cultural lifestyle, so Greeks watching Turkish soaps are the same way.

There's one very simple reason reason why Greeks watch Turkish shows so much; they are much better than Greek shows! I watch both and Turkish shows are made to a European standard while Greek shows are made to a... Greek standard which is much lower... Turkey can afford to make good quality TV shows and movies given her population and strong economy. Greeks are the opposite, with small population and ?? economy can only afford cheap end of entertasinment industry.

What is the news in this? A twitter message that an unknown actor does not like unknown a tv-series?

perhaps the puppet state of greek cyprus is not making the shows that the greeks want to see! even if the greeks dont like to hear it the greek and Turkish taste in TV is nearly the same,we like the same food, the same drinks and nearly the same way of life. On the other hand the greek cypriots are different to the mainland greeks and they dont seem to like each other very much.
