A ceasefire to end almost a week of violence in and around the Gaza Strip is to be announced in Cairo on Tuesday night, Hamas and Islamic Jihad sources told AFP.

"There will be a joint press conference between Hamas and Islamic Jihad and the Egyptian mediators tonight to announce the truce," an Islamic Jihad source told AFP, while a Hamas source confirmed the announcement.

@Stella: Israel does not have the backing of the free world, Just the opposite actually. There are protests happening all over the world against Israel and their massacre. You need to stop watching and getting your info from main stream sources, they are all biased. The only people I've heard of in support of the Israel Govt. are the American Govt... which the American public is against, and, the the few people posting on here... whom most of which either have Jewish or Israeli backgrounds.

Not at all! The Israel security demands were not met. So no security, no truce. It will be only to the disadvantage of Hamas, Israel has the backing of the free world!

The problem we have in the West with Muslims and with Islam is not because we think Islam is fascist religion or ideology but because we fear one day Islam will dominate our countries and we might loose our culture and identity. Our Media makes Islam a fascist ideology and most of us really do not know as we are not interested to know about Islam, after all we do not have to. Anyway I hated these killings on both sides.
