Fraudster claiming to be from Health Ministry asks for photos of young women’s breasts

Buse Özel – ISTANBUL
A fraudster has been asking for photos of women’s breasts online posing as a representative of the Health Ministry, prompting a warning from the ministry to only trust its official social media accounts.

Asking for “a few shots” of their breasts from young women, the fraudster claimed to be a representative of the ministry working for public health.

“I was appointed by the Health Ministry to determine whether or not there is breast cancer in young ladies.

Could you please share a few photos of your breasts to support us and help our friends who suffer from breast cancer,” read the fraudster’s message shared via fake Health Ministry accounts on Facebook and Twitter.

The Health Ministry released an announcement via its Twitter account saying no other accounts should be taken into consideration other than the one which released the announcement.

“This page is the Health Ministry’s only official account on Twitter. Social media accounts that belong to the Health Ministry do not ask for any photographs or videos putting forth ‘medical reasons.’ Please do not take into consideration accounts and messages that use the Health Ministry’s name and ask for such demands,” read the ministry’s announcement on April 22.
