Four security personnel were killed on March 24 in separate outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attacks in southeastern Turkish provinces.

PKK militants detonated an explosive placed in a building during a gendarmerie special unit operation in the Nusaybin district of the southeastern province of Mardin. One specialized sergeant was killed and four soldiers were wounded. The wounded soldiers were taken to Nusaybin State Hospital for treatment.

In a separate attack in the district, two soldiers were killed and five others were wounded when PKK militants detonated explosives placed on a road during the passage of soldiers.

The operations in Nusaybin started on March 14, shortly after a curfew went into effect in the district, with specialized soldiers and police officers removing barricades set up by PKK militants in the town.

In addition, one police officer was also killed on March 24 in a PKK attack in the southeastern province of Şırnak.

Security forces engaged in an armed clash with PKK militants in the province’s Dicle neighborhood as a part of the ongoing security operations. One special operations police officer was killed and another was wounded in the clash. The wounded police officer was taken to Şırnak Military Hospital.
