Foreign ministry, BDP to meet with Syrian Kurds

ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
Representatives of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) of Syria held talks with Turkish Foreign Ministry deputy Undersecretary Ömer Önhon on Oct. 8, while members of the Kurdish Supreme Committee met Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) representatives in Ankara.

Önhon and the KNC representatives discussed attacks by the Syrian regime, the process of eliminating the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons arsenal, the clashes between Arab rebels and Kurdish groups in northern Syria, and the process leading to the Geneva II meeting, a Turkish official told the Hürriyet Daily News.

Ankara reiterated Turkey’s support for the KNC’s decision to join the Syrian National Coalition umbrella opposition group, the official added. The KNC representatives assured Ankara that they would seek Kurdish rights in a unified Syria as equal Syrian citizens and joining the Coalition.
