A Moldovan helicopter crashed in southeastern Romania today, killing five, local authorities said.

"Two K-26 helicopters coming from Moldova's capital Chisinau and heading for Turkey were flying over south-eastern Romania," Bogdan Donciu, the head of the aviation monitoring company Romatsa, told Realitatea TV channel.

"One of them crashed near Ostrov, in the Danube Delta," he added.

The second helicopter landed immediately close by. The prosecutor's office said it opened an investigation into the crash.
