Fahir Atakoğlu Trio hit US venues Following Fahir Atakoğlu’s latest release “Live at Umbria Jazz,” the 17th album in his vast catalogue of music, the Fahir Atakoğlu Trio will perform at three venues on the East Coast of the U.S. this month.

The trio is playing at The Velvet Note in Atlanta on Jan. 13 and 14, the Deer Head Inn at Delaware Water Gap in Pennsylvania on Jan. 15, and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at the Lincoln Center in New York on Jan. 24.

Atakoğlu, an international award winning composer and pianist from Turkey, is well known in the fields of jazz, large symphonic works and film music.

Over the years, he has worked to blend his own native music from Turkey with sounds from the wider world, incorporating Cuban rhythms, Middle Eastern melodies, and improvisation as perfected by American jazz artists.

His three previous U.S. jazz CD releases have made it to number 1 on the JazzWeek World Music Chart as well as charting high on the JazzWeek Jazz Chart.

“Live at Umbria Jazz” charted in a high position on the JazzWeek Charts for 16 weeks.

The Trio has performed at various venues all over Turkey, and Atakoğlu has performed at Carnegie Hall twice - once with Sezen Aksu and another time with Sertab Erener, both times selling out.

In October 2015, Atakoğlu received an award from Turk of America Magazine as one of the 50 most influential Turkish Americans.
