EU rapporteur to meet President Gül in Ankara

Josette Durrieu, the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) rapporteur for post-monitoring dialogue with Turkey, will make a fact-finding visit to Turkey between Nov. 5 and 10.

Talks are planned in Ankara and Istanbul with Turkish President Abdullah Gül and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu. Durrieu will also meet with the justice, labor and interior ministers. Durrieu will also meet the parliamentary speaker and the chairs of the committees on constitutional reform, human rights and foreign affairs.

She will hold talks with the Turkish delegation to PACE and representatives of political parties, the judiciary, the international community, civil society and the media. On Nov. 7 Durrieu will visit the southern town of Hatay, on the Turkish-Syrian border, to meet with Syrian refugees and local authorities.
