Turkish national team captain Emre Belözoğlu might return to his old club, Fenerbahçe after a surprise transfer bid, Turkish media reported late yesterday. Belözoğlu, who moved to the Spanish club only six months ago, is said to have been unhappy in Madrid because he was not allowed much game time by Coach Diego Simeone. If the transfer report is confirmed, Fenerbahçe will reinforce its midfield with a key player for the club’s latest achievements.

Fenerbahçe would not pay any transfer fee if Belözoğlu returns and signs a 2.5 year contract with his former captain, according to reports. Belözoğlu is said to be very willing to return to his old club, despite claims he had quit Fenerbahçe due to a row with the manager, Aykut Kocaman.

With all these transfers and moves one wonders when and if they find time to play soccer. Is there a shortage of talent among 75M?

Great news for Fener if he comes back. He was the heartbeat of our team before he left, and possesses the ability to galvanize the midfield, and whole team in fact, when things are not going to plan. We sadly lack a player with these qualities at present. Yes, he can be a little hot headed at times, but no more so than many other players in the league, such as that troublemaker Melo at Galatasaray, or Zokora at Trabzon. It's just that the media focuses much more on everything Emre does.

The Super League doesn't need this petulant tantrum-thrower back. Poor role model for any team captain.
