Emergency doctors to complete training on synthetic drug ‘Bonzai’ in two months

ANKARA – Anadolu Agency
Due to the rapid increase in the use of the synthetic drug "bonzai," the Turkish Health Ministry has launched a project to train emergency doctors on the issue. The country-wide training programs are expected to be completed by March 31.

Some 165 psychiatrists and emergency doctors have received training as part of the project since December. These first trainees will themselves later train other doctors.

According to the statement released by the official body for Turkey’s Public Hospitals and Health Facilities, trained doctors will begin to train emergency doctors based on previously determined subjects.

Who will be trained?

The statement obliges all emergency doctors and others specialized in the use of acute substances, as well as drug and substance intoxication, to take the training program.

Training groups will be organized according to trainees’ shifts at emergency services locations and will consist of at least 100 participants.

Based on the ministry’s schedule, in the upcoming two months a total of 5,000 emergency doctors are expected to complete the training program.
