Eight hectares of forest land damaged in fire in Turkey’s Muğla

Eight hectares of forest land damaged in fire in Turkey’s Muğla Eight hectares of forest land have been damaged in a fire that broke out in the Menteşe district of the Aegean province of Muğla on Sept. 1, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The fire erupted in a steep forested land in the Akbük neighborhood of Menteşe in the afternoon hours and was only brought under control with the efforts of 20 aircrafts, six helicopters and 100 forestry workers. 

According to initial examinations, eight hectares of forest land were damaged by the fire.

Cooling works in the area are currently ongoing.

Gendarmerie forces, meanwhile, have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
