The 8th Turkish Festival will take place in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 3.

The festival is organized by the American-Turkish Association of Washington, D.C., and is expected to host 20,000 visitors. A total of 15,000 visitors, mostly U.S. citizens, visited last year's festival.

In addition to Turkish music and dance shows, Turkish culture and cuisine will be introduced during the festival.

Meanwhile, Turks will try to enter the Guinness Book of Records with the longest shish kebab in the world. A six-meter-long shish kebab will be cooked during the festival.

American-Turkish Association of Washington, D.C., Chairwoman Demet Cabbar said that the festival had become a tradition, adding that 150 people hailing from Africa to Europe would work as volunteers during the festival. She noted that $5,000 of the festival’s $80,000 budget was provided by the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry.
