Turkish winds will breeze through the Cannes Film Festival. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will cover cars with a slogan and pictures from Turkey during the festival, reported the Anatolia news agency. The Turkish films Yaşamın Kıyısında (On the Edge of Life) by Fatih Akın, Yumurta (Egg) and Süt (Milk) by Semih Kaplanoğlu will compete in the festival, to be monitored by press members and cinema professionals all over the world.
The Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in Paris has started a special promotion campaign that will be carried out during the 60th International Cannes Film Festival on May 16-20. As part of the campaign, 10 cars covered with the slogan Turkish Cinema in Cannes and pictures of Aegean coves will tour the streets of Cannes. A Turkish emblem, the Web site of Paris Culture and Tourism Office, www.infosturguie.com, and scenes from Cappadocia will also be on the cars.
Also within the campaign, Istanbul will be promoted on billboards in Cannes. Commercials on Turkey and Istanbul will be shown on the huge screen opposite the festival palace. Forty second spots will be shown 89 times a day for 11 days.
With the contribution of the ministry, a stand including a 50-square meter closed area and a terrace will be set up in Village International. Various promotional activities will be organized through the stand with the contributions of the Association for Turkish Film Producers (SESAM).
