Dam workers still missing

ADANA - Hürriyet Daily News
Efforts by search and rescue teams to locate 7 workers who went missing in floods caused by a rupture in an under-construction dam on Feb. 24 in the southern province of Adana are still underway.

Officials are planning to discharge the water inside an earthen bank in front of the body of the dam until evening, while a team from the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) also joined rescue efforts with a sonar device, according to Adana Deputy Gov. Fikret Deniz.

“Our friends have initiated their work, but it became apparent that a larger area was needed for the [sonar] device to work. We are working to discharge the water located before the [body of the] dam,” Deniz said. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of two dead workers on the morning of Feb. 25
