A curfew which was declared on Dec. 14, 2015, in the Cizre district of the southeastern province of Şırnak will be lifted on the morning of March 2, the Şırnak Governor’s Office has announced.

The governor’s office said in a statement that the curfew would be lifted for daylight hours on March 2 but would continue to be imposed at nights between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The curfew in Cizre was declared on Dec. 14, 2015, in order to cover ditches dug by outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants, remove barricades and detonate explosives.

Operations by security forces that began with the start of the curfew ended on Feb. 11.
