A curfew ended in Yüksekova in the southeastern province of Hakkari at 6 a.m. on Nov. 23, according to the Hakkari Governor’s Office.

A curfew was declared on Nov. 20 from 8 p.m. in the region, “due to escalating terror events, in order to reassure peace and security.”

Authorities have declared curfews in the province a number of times, while citizens have been killed as security services attempt to pacify militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) that have dug trenches and erected barricades.

Locals hit the streets to protest against the curfew, while some PKK militants pelted police vehicles with stones. Police officers subsequently attacked local residents with tear gas and water cannon.

Meanwhile, a curfew in the southeastern district of Nusaybin entered its 11th day, while a curfew was also lifted in Lice of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

Security forces are accused of having killed eight civilians so far during the present curfew in Nusaybin.
