Crane truck crushes 6 vehicles, wounds 5 people in Istanbul

ISTANBUL

A crane truck with faulty brakes crushed six vehicles and wounded five people in an accident in the Maltepe district of Istanbul on Dec. 29, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The accident occurred in the Cevizli neighborhood at 09:00 a.m. 

The crane truck lost control after its brakes broke and crushed six vehicles until it plunged into a petrol station on the street.   

Ambulances and brigade crews arrived immediately at the scene and the wounded were taken to hospitals. According to a witness, the accident wounded scores. 

Following the incident, police started an investigation into the accident.

Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred in the Beylikdüzü district of Istanbul on Dec. 29.

A crane was toppled due to stormy weather and caused a traffic deadlock on the D-100 highway in Beylikdüzü.

Initial reports said there were no casualties.
