The consumer confidence index increased 1.1 percent in February 2012, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data announced March 16. The index, which was at 92.2 in January, increased 1.1 percent to 93.2 in February.

The increase in the consumer confidence index stemmed from improvements in consumers’ assessments concerning purchasing power now and in the near future, the general economic outlook in the coming period, and the outlook for upcoming job opportunities.
