Consumer confidence in Turkey recovers slightly

ISTANBUL- Hürriyet Daily News
The consumer confidence index rose about 0.2 percent in January compared to the previous month, according to data released yesterday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). The index read 92.2 last month, up from 92 in December 2011. Readings below 100 reflect consumer pessimism. The slight rise in confidence stems from consumers’ improving expectations regarding future purchasing power and employment, according to TÜİK.
