The Ciner Media Group announced yesterday that it has bought Habertürk TV, the Haberturk Web site and Habertürk Radio.

  Kenan Tekdağ, president of the Ciner Media Group, the former owner of the daily Sabah newspaper and ATV television, said in a written statement that Habertürk will “continue to be the voice of independent and free media” within the group.

Meanwhile, the first issue of daily Taraf (Side) was published yesterday. Turkey's newest daily, published under the leadership of Ahmet Altan and Alev Er, also became the country's most expensive Turkish language daily, with a sale price of 1 YTL. The Taraf staff also includes renowned journalists Neşe Düzel, Yasemin Çongar and Etyen Mahçupyan.
