CHP slams court over education law ruling

The members of the Constitutional Court have “ceased to be judges” in the aftermath of recent judicial reforms, and their rejection of a Republican People’s Party (CHP) application to scrap the controversial new education law is not surprising, a senior CHP deputy said yesterday.“We had expected the Court’s rejection. We don’t anticipate justice from the Constitutional Court. They have ceased to be judges [under recent legal reforms]. We had to make an application just to go through the formality,” Muharrem İnce said. “The Court has given its approval for the use of violence in Parliament.”
In a separate development, the CHP yesterday submitted a censure motion against Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on the grounds that he “had brought Turkey to the brink of war, created new problems with neighbors, thrown national security into danger and failed to pursue independent policies.”
