Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu met with President Abdullah Gül yesterday to discuss recent “important issues” on Turkey’s agenda, according to party sources.

The meeting comes amid heated debates over the government-initiated “peace process” on the Kurdish issue and disagreements on the drafting of Turkey’s new charter. Ahead of the meeting, which the CHP had requested, Kılıçdaroğlu issued a written statement expressing his party’s willingness to resolve the Kurdish issue, adding that Turkish people have started to accept the CHP’s “road map” on the Kurdish issue. After the 45-minutes meeting, the CHP leader rejected to comment on the content, saying that everone should act carefully during such a crucial era, referring to the Kurdish issue talks.
