The Republican People’s Party (CHP) has submitted a motion to establish a parliamentary commission for investigation into terror acts.

The party submitted the motion on July 23, aiming to convene the parliamentary assembly for an extraordinary meeting on July 29 to discuss the commission.

“Recent terror acts in our country have led to a public opinion that they are the outcome of foreign policy choices in the last few years, primarily the Syria policy,” CHP deputy Özgür Özel told reporters on July 23.

Therefore, all political parties in parliament should gather and present their views in order to evaluate the accelerating terror acts in Turkey and take efficient measures, the deputy said.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ welcomed the CHP’s proposal. “The parliament should not remain irrelevant to these sorrows,” Yüksekdağ said, expressing her hope to have positive results to resolve the problem.

HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş earlier called for an extraordinary assembly of parliament and asked for the support of 30 deputies in addition to his party’s 80 deputies in order to reach the required number to declare such a meeting.
