A caracal that was found by two television actresses in the western province of Muğla’s Marmaris district has been set free after three weeks of treatment.

Actresses Özge Özpirinçci and Buğra Gülsoy, who are acting in a TV series shot in Marmaris, found the weary caracal some time ago in a forested area, after which they took it to a veterinary.

Following three weeks of treatment by veterinary Göksel Bayramlı, the caracal’s condition improved and the animal was returned to its natural environment.

Bayramlı said the animal was in a bad condition. “It was very hard to evaluate its situation at first. A few days later, we found out that it was not able to see. We thought it was caused by a lack of nutrition. We gave it treatment and the animal started seeing on the 10th day.”

The treatment quickly paid dividends, the veterinary said. “We applied virus tests and since we found no virus, we decided to set it free. It was very active in the last week,” Bayramlı said.
