A car has crashed into a number of people enjoying a day at the beach in the Kuşadası district of the Aegean Province of Aydın, leaving one person dead and four others injured. 

The driver of the car, Necati Kespic, 84, lost control and the car went off the road, Doğan News Agency reported on July 22.

The car rammed into the people sunbathing and swimming at the beach before coming to a stop in the sea. 

Kespic, his wife Denizer Kespic, Yeter Gündoğan, 64, and Iranur Aksu, 2, were wounded in the incident and Melek Aksu, 31, was killed. 

The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, while the car was removed after investigations at the scene.
The gendarmerie launched an investigation into the incident.
