A recent book by the head of Turkey's police academy, Professor Remzi Fındıklı, that allegedly contains racist and mysoginistic maxims has stirred controversy, a report said over the weekend.

Fındıklı considered his book, which he published in 2011, to be the outcome of a "careful and laborious" process, according to Tolga Şardan of daily Milliyet.

Fındıklı's book, "Hasılı Kelam/Sözün Özü (The Bottom Line), contains thousands of descriptions and quotes which the author considered "beautiful maxims." The book also contained a saying of Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and the phrase "Edep yahu" (Show some decency), which Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan uses frequently when addressing political opponents.

Milliyet published some maxims it claimed to be found in Fındıklı's book that contained no references to any person or folk saying.

- A girl of 15 must either be with a man or be in the ground.
- Honey comes from the bee, quarrel comes from the broad.
- The jihad of woman is to get along with her spouse.
- A man should have a belly, a woman should have a baby.
- Those who are generous with their belongings are honorable; those who are generous with their bodies are dishonorable.
- Work should be close to home, a broad should be close to man, money should be close to hand.
- The West is an untamed horse that only knows how to kick.
- "Rector" is a Christian idiom meaning "the man who shows the right path."
- Those who eat meat always rule over those who eat grass.
- Democracy is the rule of the mediocre.
- The Constitution is a secret state structure.
- A man without religion is a man without mental balance and tact.
- Hold fast to your religion so they know which nation you are from.
- Poverty means having no ideas. A poor man would not be poor if he were smart.

The bar for achieving Professorship here is much lower than in the West.

If the head of the police academy gives birth such brilliant ideas, just imagine what the pupils will be able to think at the end of the training course!

I wonder how a man who has written the above, is able to write serious scientific work in order to qualify to become of Professor. What is his field or discipline?

How on Earth did a man with these Stone-Age ideas manage to become a Professor? And how did he manage to publish a book containing this nonsense? If he is serious about that democracy is the rule of the mediocre and that the constitution is a secret state structure, he should not be the head of the law enforcement academy. The people responsible for this institution should fire him.
