Chelsea came from behind three times against Manchester United and advanced to the League Cup quarterfinals behind Ramires’ goal in the 116th minute on the night of Oct. 31.

Three days after losing an acrimonious Premier League match to United 3-2, Chelsea was on the verge of elimination before Eden Hazard’s penalty kick tied the score 3-3 in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time.

Ryan Giggs put United ahead in the 22nd minute at Stamford Bridge, but David Luiz tied the score with a penalty kick in the 31st minute.

The game was disrupted twice, when a firework appeared to be thrown from among the 6000 United fans and when a fan ran onto the field. Javier Hernandez put the visitors back ahead in the 43rd, but Gary Cahill made it 2-2 in the 52nd only for Nani to give United the lead seven minutes later. Hazard tied the score with another penalty, and goals by Daniel Sturridge in the 97th and Ramires gave Chelsea a 5-3 lead. Giggs converted a penalty in the 120th minute.

Chelsea will travel to Leeds in the quarterfinals.
