Blue Man Group draws crowds on Istanbul streets

The Blue Man Group caught Istanbul’s attention on Feb. 12 as they performed on the city’s streets ahead of their first ever show in Turkey at the Zorlu Performance Hall.

Having taken selfies with locals, the group also toured Istanbul’s iconic Spice Bazaar in the Eminönü neighborhood.

The Blue Man Group was established in 1988 with the collaboration of three close friends Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton, on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

In his statement, Chris Wink said it was a great honor to perform for a Turkish audience.

Stanton said the Blue Man characters attract all kinds of people from different ages, cultures and nations.

“We think that the celebration and happiness that Blue Man tries to give out can reach out to everybody universally,” he said.

The Blue Man Group show has been staged in over 20 countries and has been seen by over 35 million people since 1991. The show combines music, comedy and technology and has received critical acclaim from audiences all over the world for its success in telling new stories and integrating new songs and technology.

The group will peform at Zorlu PSM’s main stage between Feb. 13 and Feb. 25.
