Turkish film “Zerre” (The Particle), directed by Erdem Tepegöz, has won the Best Director Award at the 14th Tbilisi Film Festival, which was held between Dec. 2 and 8.

The film, which stars Jale Arıkan, last year won four awards at the International Golden Orange Film Festival, two awards at the Malatya Film Festival and two awards at the Moscow Film Festival. The Tbilisi Yunus Emre Culture Center provided support for the director and scriptwriter of the film, Tepegöz.
Receiving the ninth award for this film, Tepegöz said that “Zerre” would continue joining festivals. Among these festivals will be Vienne Human Rights Film Festival in Austria, 32nd Fajr Film Festival in Iran and the International Beijing Film Festival in China.

The film focuses on Zeynep as she tries to make ends meet on her own, taking care of her mother and her daughter. Their struggle comes to a peak when she is fired from the textile mill she is working in.
