BDP questions gov’t policy on Syrian Kurds

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Deputy Nazmi Gür has submitted two parliamentary questions addressed to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the government’s stance on the conflict between the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and al-Nusra on the Syrian border, on the Kurdish Supreme Committee and the extent of humanitarian aid provided to Syria.

“Is it government’s policy that members of the al-Nusra front are using Turkey as a center of corridor and logistics?” Gür asked, demanding answers about the position of the government on al-Nusra front, according to releases by the BDP headquarters delivered yesterday.

A direct and continual dialogue

Gür also questioned whether the government took the Kurdish political actors into account while developing policies for Syria. “How does your government evaluate the Kurdish Supreme Committee, of which the PYD is a component? Do you foresee establishing a direct and continual dialog?” he further asked. In another parliamentary question, Gür asked about the extent of the humanitarian aid sent to Syria, and inquired about the role of the United Nations in distributing this aid. Most critically, Gür asked, “Complaints indicating that no aid reached Kurdish cities in the north of Syria are increasing. Has there been an embargo implemented on this region? If so, whose decision is this?”
