Turkey sent more troops, tanks and other military equipment yesterday to its border with Syria, Anatolian news agency reported. The tanks and armored personnel carriers from 5th Armored Brigade in southeastern province of Gaziantep, have been deployed in the villages of Demirisik and Akcabaglar in Kilis province along the border. The dispatching of the Turkish military tanks from the southern province of Şanlıurfa resumes as tanks from 20th Armored Brigade Command HQ have been sent to border towns with Syria, Ceylanpınar and Suruç.

Meanwhile, Syrian helicopter gunships and artillery pounded two key areas of Aleppo yesterday, extending the campaign to control the city, but rebel fighters said troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad had been forced to retreat, Reuters reported. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) forces gave basic training to Syrian Kurds to fill any “security gap” should the Syrian regime fall, Reuters quoted an official from the party as saying.
