Architecture festival hosts 22 Turkish projects

Twenty-two projects from Turkey have made the final to be included at the fifth World Architectural Festival, which will be organized in October in Singapore.

Turkey’s Emre Arolat Architects received the most nominations to be included in the festival with five projects in six fields, including the Bodrum Yalıkavak Marine, the Hotel LeMeridien Etiler and Çubuklu Valley Houses in the category of constructed buildings, as well as the Varyap Bodrum Houses and Abdullah Gül University in the category of future projects. The event, which is the biggest of its kind worldwide, is being organized by the London-based EMAP Media Group.

The firm was followed by the group of Murat-Melkan Gürsel Tabanlıoğlu Architects, which has six projects nominated in five categories.

The latter received the nominations for its buildings like the Yenikapı Transfer Point, the Archeopark Area, the E5 shopping mall, the Bodrum International Airport and the Selçuk Drugstore Lodge. The other nominees included Nevzat Sayın and Erginoğlu & Çalışlar; Hasan Çalışlar of the latter company will participate in the festival as a jury member.

In addition to Tabanlıoğlu’s E5 Shopping Mall, Uras X Dilekçi’s Buyaka shopping center will also enter the “mall” category.
