Ankara to give 3 bln liras to Turkish Cyprus

Turkey and Turkish Cyprus signed an economic and financial cooperation protocol yesterday that will see Ankara provide 3 billion Turkish Liras to the island territory.

The protocol was signed by Turkish Deputy PM Beşir Atalay and Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister İrsen Küçük in Ankara. The protocol will go into effect next year and will be valid for three years, Atalay said. In addition to the gradual financial aid amounting to 3 billion liras, Turkey will also lend an additional support of 300 million liras for efforts on public debt management.
