ANKARA
The ninth Ankara Book Fair opened on Feb. 20 at the ATO Congresium, receiving great interest from residents of the capital.

The event is hosting 250 publishing houses, fair coordinator Remzi Çayır said, adding that the fair welcomed 90,000 visitors last year although organizers expect even more people to come this year.
Çayır said students from primary schools and high schools in various neighborhoods of the city were being transported to the fair thanks to free buses.

Libraries and Publications General Director Hamdi Turşucu was also present at the opening of the fair and said the number of book fairs had increased in recent years with improved quality.

The fair will remain open through March 1, hosting signing events with writers, talks, panels and conferences. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of 30-40 percent sales on books during the fair.
