‘Ancient Cities and Ancient Stories’ to open at ArkeoPera

Aydin Erkmen will be showing his illustrations on “Ancient Cities and Ancient Stories” at the ArkeoPera Art Gallery starting Oct. 9. Erkmen, who is one of Turkey’s leading artists, has prepared illustrations that tie the legends of the Iliad and the Odyssey with the ancient cities of Anatolia. These include Troy, Halicanassus, Pergamon, Side, Assos, Allianoi, Ephesus, Didyma, Perge and Knidos. Born in Aydın in 1943, Erkmen studied graphics and illustration. He has illustrated many books, participated in exhibitions both at home and abroad, and been awarded a number of prizes. The exhibition is open until Oct. 30.
