Turkey has built the first of its eight fast amphibious military ships, model Ç-151, which complies with NATO standards. These assault ships are being built as part of the “Landing Craft Tank” (LCT) project.

Ç-151 was put to sea March 9, at the shipyard of Anadolu Tersanesi, the civil facility which has undertaken the LCT project.

“I believe wholeheartedly that these ships will be sold to the world with the reference of the Armed Forces,” Deputy Defense Minister Kemal Yardımcı said at the launch ceremony.

“Our next target is to develop new projects, to export national technology to the world,” said Anadolu Tersanesi Chairman Faruk Ürkmez.
