The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) on Jan. 20 distributed humanitarian aid to displaced families in Iraq’s northern city of Halabja.

Utku Akbaş, a Turkish Red Crescent official in Iraq told Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency that the relief agency distributed 100 pieces of heaters, sleeping bags, and blankets, as well as 100 boxes of winter clothing to families in need living in central and surrounding villages of Halabja.

“Kızılay has provided winter aid to 65,000 people in Iraq since September 2018,” Akbaş said.

He added that the agency will continue to provide humanitarian aid to those in need in the region.

The Turkish Red Crescent has assisted displaced Iraqis since ISIL overran much of the country in mid-2014.
