Turkey to work to strengthen ties with Russia: Minister

MOSCOW – Anadolu Agency

Turkey's environment and urbanization minister on Sept. 19 said Turkey will soon begin working to strengthen relations with Russia even further.

“Turkey and Russia have bilateral relations in the energy, construction, tourism, and in almost every other field,” Murat Kurum said at a joint news conference with Russia's Construction, Housing and Utilities Minister Vladimir Yakushev at the 12th International Real Estate Investment Forum PROESTATE in Moscow.

Kurum said the current business volume between the two countries has been growing further with each passing day.

"We will begin to put in the work we need to strengthen our relations even more as soon as possible," he said.

Kurum also said Turkey's Cabinet was making arrangements to ease travel and citizenship procedures to Turkey.

Last year 4.7 million Russians visited Turkey and it is expected to rise to 6 million this year, Kurum added.

After the news conference, Kurum and other participants cut the ribbon to open the forum, which will continue till Sept. 21.
