Turkey falls to Russia 1-2 in UEFA Nations League

ISTANBUL

Russia beat Turkey 2-1 Friday in their first UEFA Nations League game.

Turkey was defeated at home in the League B, Group 2 match.

The first half ended 1-1 with a goal by Russia’s Denis Cheryshev and one by Turkey’s Serdar Aziz as he equalized close to half-time. But Artem Dzyuba restored Russia's lead four minutes after the break and the match ended 1-2.

The second day of the tournament ended with seven matches.

Sweden will host Turkey on Monday.
