Has the oath for lawmakers changed?

Has the oath for lawmakers changed?

Merve Kavakçı was denaturalized from Turkish citizenship on account of the fact that she became an American citizen without receiving permission.

She had regained her Turkish citizenship by the ruling of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and she was afterwards appointed as the Turkish ambassador in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.

But, there is an oath she made when she became an American citizen.

Look at what the first part of this oath says:

“I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true, faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law...”

Since Kavakçı is a Muslim, there must be a penance for her to break her oath, such as feeding 10 poor people or giving them clothes or releasing a slave. If she cannot do these, then she must fast for three days.

This is her personal issue, I assume she has paid her penance.

But, she is the Ambassador of the Turkish Republic from now on.

Therefore, she has responsibilities towards the community and the Turkish Constitutional Law, but we have not heard whether they have been fulfilled. We have not heard her say, “I broke that oath, I am denaturalized from American citizenship.”

On the other hand, this must also be counted as a kind of “criminal record.” If she can make a false oath for the sake of American citizenship, she may lie regarding other subjects as well and may also be dishonest for religious purposes.
How can our state trust this official?

The AKP trolls

The Justice and Development Party (AKP) trolls and those pro-government media representatives who claim to speak on behalf of the president have angered the president.

As a result, he is the leading actor in a film-like country named Turkey and it is normal for him to be angry with those who try to steal the leading role.

According to Nuray Babacan’s article in Hürriyet, the party will also begin discipline and dismissal procedures for those identified as having contact with these kinds of people and leak information to them.

Actually, there will not be any need for any of these actions, statements or speeches.

In the end, these people work for pro-government press.

The owners of the television stations and newspapers where these people work, are supporters of the AKP.

As a matter of fact, only a signal is required for a newspaper to change hands. You hear that someone has sold it, and they do not even know whom they’ve sold it to. The new owner is known two days later.

On the other hand, these media outlets live off state banks and advertisements given by government controlled companies.

So actually, only one message, just one signal, is enough to make people behave.

But this signal does not arrive, it is rather empty rhetoric and abstract discourse, with no finger pointing at specific people.

Why is that so? Is it because they will need the “services of these people” one day?

Had they wanted to do so, they would have been able to silence these types. Why don’t they send the news with the personal secretary?

This man is a teacher!

The Ministry of Education’s Lifelong Learning Directorate has stopped “the opening of folk dance courses.”

The reason for this decision is the “big gap” between the amount of the participants in the courses and the graduates who received certificates at the end of the courses.

I cannot say that I understand, how this can be a “problem.”

It is obvious some of the participants were bored afterward and stopped attending the courses without receiving their certificates.

But there are also people who want to join these courses and are determined to learn the dances and receive their certificates.

Are we closing high schools claiming not every student can finish them?

And of course, there is also a social media post by art teacher N.T., who was also the assistant principal of Malatya Gazi Anadolu High School just before this decision was made. “My goodness, in which region of our country is a folk dance performed with girls and boys together. Unfortunately, children are being taught wrong manners. Which father would want a boy to hold his daughter’s hands, or watch her perform a dance eye-to-eye, arm-in-arm, with a boy? Would the man who commits a murder to save his honor, allow this to happen? In my opinion, he also would not let it happen. A folk dance in this way is not suitable for Islam. Does it become halal and legitimate once you wear traditional clothes? Mothers and fathers should read about the issue of adultery in Islam,” he said.

This mentality comes from 100 years ago.

Are these teachers going to teach us that “jihad” does not mean war but is a matter of self-discipline?
