Emmanuel Pahud.
World renowned flutist Emmanuel Pahud and Grammy-award winning pianist Yefim Bronfman will take the stage at İş Sanat Dec. 8.
Pahud, one of the best flutists of his generation, is the first guest of this season’s Virtouoso concert series at İş Sanat. Named Instrumentalist of the Year at the prestigious Victoires de la Musique award ceremony in 1997, the Swiss-French flutist is one of today’s most exciting and adventurous musicians. He is highly-regarded by Gramophone Magazine as “… one of the finds of the decade, a player who respects the pure tonal palette of the flute. He never forces the sound and maintains an evenly controlled tone at all times, with no tightening on high notes or straining on low ones.”
Pahud has performed with many distinguished orchestras as a soloist and was appointed as principal flute of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Claudio Abbado at the age of 22.
Bronfman, who will accompany Pahud on stage, is widely regarded as one of the most talented piano virtuosos of our day. His command of technique and exceptional lyrical gifts have won consistent critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences worldwide, whether for his solo recitals, his prestigious orchestral engagements or his rapidly growing catalogue of recordings.
Widely praised for his solo, chamber and orchestral recordings, he was awarded a Grammy in 1997 for his recording of the three Bartok Piano Concertos. The artist’s 2012 program features concerts with the New York Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, London Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra and a recital at Carnegie Hall.
The duo’s concert at İş Sanat is part of a very special concert tour including Madrid, Bilbao, Copenhagen and London. The concert starts at 8 p.m
