Doğan Holding chair Doğan Faralyalı one of top 50 leading women in the world, according to Variety

Variety Magazine has included Doğan Holding Chairwoman Begümhan Doğan Faralyalı in its first International Women’s Impact Report, which celebrates 50 women across the world who are leaving their mark in media and entertainment. 

The list also features British singer Adele, Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman, Lupita Nyong’o and Prada creative director Muccia Prada. 

Doğan Faralyalı is the only Turkish woman included in the list, which features women “doing extraordinary things on the worldwide stage.”

Among the 50 women on the unranked list, there are 12 women from the U.K., the country with the highest number. The U.K. was followed by China with five women on the list and Italy with four women.

Doğan Faralyalı “spearheaded Doğan Holding’s media expansion in Europe, including Eastern Europe and Russia. Last year, its Kanal D Intl. division launched an initiative focused on scripted content co-productions and co-development deals to take advantage of Turkish soaps and dramas’ increasing popularity,” Doğan Faralyalı’s profile read on the Variety.

“She is also the founder of Turkey’s non-political Common Values Movement launched to ease national tensions in the aftermath of in the aftermath of the country’s attempted coup,” it added.

Founded in 1905, Variety Magazine is a source of entertainment news and information. The magazine’s International Women’s Impact Report is an extension of their annual Women’s Impact Report, focused on highlighting women who champion positive changes in TV and film.

Variety in 2017 had included Doğan Group Founder and Honorary Chairman Aydın Doğan in a list naming the 500 most influential business leaders shaping the global $2 trillion entertainment industry. Updated annually, Variety500 reflects the accomplishments of its members over the previous 12 months.

Aydın Doğan is the only Turk to have entered this list, known as “Variety500.”

Variety had provided information on the Doğan Group and praised Kanal D, which is one of Doğan Group’s TV networks.
